Menon apes various Bollywood celebrities starting from Amitabh Bachchan to even Rani Mukherjee. Some of his best impersonations on the show have been that of Sanjiv Kumar (as Thakur from “Sholay”), Karan Johar, Sachin Tendulkar, Hrithik Roshan (as Krrisshu) and Phoolan Devi (as Phoolan Baby).

The USP of the show was Sunil Grover, who gave his spoof a new dimension by impersonating King Khan.

His dressing style, hairstyle, mannerisms, language, voice modulation and laughs are all done to resemble Shahrukh Khan. Moreover, the format of the show is so bloody hilarious that the viewers tumble from their chairs. They have used the term “Pipelines” in place of the original “Lifelines” and most of them are puns of the original terms like “Audience Jhol” (for Audience poll), “Kaun Hai Friend” (Call a Friend) and “Sexy 20” (50-50).

Besides this, it had various segments such as “Jhumma ka Chumma”, “Padosan Ka Pyar”, “Angoor Ki Beti”, “Kholi No.420”, “Maa Ka Aashirwad”, etc to keep audience into peals of laughter. To add to it, they invite the “guest” on the “pot-seat” instead of the usual “hot seat”.

KAUN BANEGA CHAMPU. And the funniest part in my view is when the security guard answers the first question of the little boy. In a big city, a small boy goes to one building near the electricity panel and asks a question to the guard that what will happen if he will pull that lever down. The guard gets amused by the question and tells him not to do that. Still the boy pulls that lever down and damn, the entire building becomes dark. This curiosity (and the innocence) of him leads him to be the King Khan who eventually gets to host for KAUN BANEGA CROREPATI.

Filmy won gold awards in the Best Editing category and for ‘Kaun Banega Champu Spoof’ in the Best Comedy Promo category. Filmy got its silver awards in the Best In House Station Image Promo category and for ‘Kaun Banega Champu Spoof’ in the Best Comedy Campaign category.

Audience Jhol refers to the polling of audiences, towards a particular question, same as in the original version but the twist in the first session was that nobody from the audience voted, because the participant was none other than Sanjay Dutt’s Duplicate, who is weilding a gun and threatens people. In the end the poll is zero and the particpant loses out. Quite hilarious and has the entire audience into peals of laughter

Kaun Banega Champu is an upcoming Game show that is going to parody the popular Indian television show Kaun Banega Crorepati. The show will air on Sahara Filmy on February 11, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. and every following Sunday. It is going to be hosted by stand-up comedian Sunil Grover with the name of “Ruk Ruk Khan”, an obvious spoof of the current Kaun Banega Crorepati host, Shahrukh Khan. The show is going to be inviting celebrity guests to play the game.
